First Impressions – Door Bell

First impressions are big for me. When people come over, I want our home to feel warm and inviting. And clean. As in… not what this doorbell represents -

This is the first thing that guests see. It is old and ugly. Someone forgot to use Frog Tape when painting the door last time around. So… time for a little face lift. In fact, I think the whole door could use a face lift, don’t you think?

Pink? Mauve? Rose? What is that color? What ever it is, it’s going bye bye.

Back to the doorbell – Here is our little guy.

And a nice side by side of what we have going on. So much better!

Next, I drilled two new holes and connected the wires.

That’s it. 1..2..3… Ding Dong we are done.

Not too shabby for 15 minutes and $14. Of course, once I repaint the door it will be seamless.

Next on the agenda for Project First Impressions… Paint the door. Or at least think about a color :)

Welcome to our backyard!

Complete with a stream! Can you see it behind the leaves??

It is such a lovely space… and definitely one of the selling features of the house. Have a place to sit outside and entertain. Maybe a little BBQ action.

Too bad we don’t have a patio set. Or a barbecue. Until now :)

As an anniversary gift to ourselves, we invested in some outdoor goodies that would allow us to enjoy the great outdoors.

Part one: patio set. I have been scouting Craigslist, Consignment stores, Target etc. for months trying to find a decently priced set to seat 6. No dice. Luckily, I came across a sale at Home Depot.

Enter the Martha Stewart Grand Bank Patio Set… for $200 off! Add to Cart. It has great reviews and with the powder-coated steel, we are hoping it will stand the test of time.

And after months of putting it off (heck, summer is almost over!) we made the move to get a grill. We chose Weber’s 22in. One Touch Silver Kettle Grill:

Awww… isn’t he so cute?! We chose a charcoal grill so we could get some good flavor. Even though he wasn’t on sale, we was worth every penny.

While we are talking about outside… let’s take a look at our porch.

It’s looking a little splotchy right now since we just touched up the paint. The old paint is so gross and we need to repaint the entire porch. But I think that might be a project for next spring. :)
