Happy Easter! To celebrate the Easter holiday Steve had a fabulous idea to make cake pops! And what a great idea it was…
Last summer, my aunt bought us the Bakerella Cake Pop Book and the Bella Cake Pop Maker. It has some super creative and cute ideas for every holiday and occasion you can think of. So we finally broke out the book and decided to make some Spring Chicks.
We used a Funfetti cake mix and spooned a heaping teaspoon into our Cake Pop Maker. After 5 minutes, we had golden brown cake balls, about the size of a munchkin. Delicious on their own… believe me, we had a few :)

The balls cooled in the refrigerator for a half hour. While they cooled, we separated the sprinkles for the wings, beaks, and feet. We used Wilton’s Candy Melts in yellow. The candy was melted until smooth.

We dipped the lollipop sticks in the melted candy and then into the cake balls. After the candy had set, we dipped the lollipop into the melted candy. To get the access candy off the pop, we simply swirled the pop while gently tapping the wrist.
Once this was complete and the candy dried and started applying the sprinkles with a small dab of melted candy (which acts as glue). The book suggested that we use edible ink for the eyes… but it was almost $8! Instead we used $2 black decorative frosting. Worked just fine.
Flair was very interested in these little guys…

And here are our little guys against the books…. Not bad!
