I hope everyone had a lovely Mother’s Day!
As a special little gift for my mom and mother-in-law, I made someĀ Chocolate Dipped Almond Horns, which I mentioned in my first Recipe Roundup. My mom has a thing for these guys. Every time she goes into the city she gets a hunka-hunka Almond Horn from Zara’s. It’s a time honored tradition. Yummm…

You can find the recipe I used over at Seriouseats.com. This was my first time using marzipan. Let me tell you… expensive! It made the dough… and I using the term dough lightly, since there is no flour in it… very sticky. But often the stickier the dough, the moister the cookie (is “moister” a word? “More moist”, maybe?). I also found that taking them out a few minutes sooner than suggested in the recipe is a good thing.
Overall, an easy recipe. More expensive then I would usually spend for two dozen cookies… but I would say it’s worth it for a special occasion!
They are delicious cookies – moist, dense and full of almond-y goodness.

Try them out!! Share the goodness.

It’s too early in the day for me to be craving chocolate, but you’ve given me no other option!
Never too early for chocolate!
