Tonight was one of those nights when I looking in the fridge and had no idea what kind of veggies to add to our dinner. The asparagus stared me down… and it won.

So I drizzled some olive oil into a saute pan over medium-high heat. I added my prepped asparagus with a pinch of fresh ground pepper and kosher salt. From here, I wanted to add some lemon for some acidity, but alas… no lemon. Only lime. So I squeezed half of it over the asparagus and threw that into the pan.

I let that sit for a few minutes. Then I added about a tablespoon of brown sugar and a half tablespoon of butter (because every good dish has at least a little butter).

Yumm….

I let that simmer for about 5 minutes and added a little more salt and pepper. Viola!

If I had known where I was going with this dish when I started I might have added some garlic to the oil at the beginning to give a little more depth to the dish. That being said, Steve loved it… and he’s not a fan of asparagus. Not too shabby for a Wednesday night!
